Restaurant · Cartagena
Yummyko's move from Murcia to Cartagena, in a unit organised around takeaway food.
We designed this restaurant around the brand, not the other way round. Yummyko was already up and running in Murcia and this unit was its move into Cartagena. Japanese fusion food, with the business built around takeaway. It didn't need much space, just a good kitchen and a collection area that worked.
The unit had two façades, and we saw it straight away: one door for takeaway and another for orders. At the entrance we fitted yellow metal shelving that serves the kitchen and, at the same time, separates it from the walkway. On the side of the kitchen we opened a hatch for quick service.
We used the double height above the toilets and kitchen to hide the services, painting them black. Upstairs are the office and the storeroom, leaving the ground floor to take centre stage. The blue walls in the dining area contrast with the bar and separate the two spaces.
